My piece blends graphite illustration, graphic coloring, text and handwriting. My piece centers on my poem,
"Apu" (meaning grandmother, in Kapampangan, one of the about two hundred
Filipinx languages that still exist), and is about honoring
grandmothers, our ancestral lands (incl. the stories of the land), and
how, for a great majority of humxns throughout Her/Their/OurStory,
dominant West civilization has hindered and/or damaged connection to
both for many of us.
