March 20, 2017, art salon “the end of the painting?” held by Eye Art International Youth Exhibition and Tsinghua Academy of Art, Art History major, helping art students learn from each other and share meaningful creative experiences. And this art salon invited graduated students Huang He and Jibei from Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts Department of painting and Central Academy of Fine Arts with the purpose of sharing their experience in the creation process.
Each person's unique and interesting creative experience is not only a useful summary, and sometimes it will become another source of inspiration. First of all, young print artist Jibei share with us the creative process of his graduation work.
He made different people's life superimposed by using multiple layers of different images, forming a special "vibration" art fantasy, add some details of representative period of the character. He use translucent acrylic plate as a floor, which covered with a layer of resin glue then paint on it. Painting on it after it was covered with a second layer of resin glue. After exploration, six layers form a flowing, drop-like, jitter character, showing the best three-dimensional rich effect. Thus, his works fresh, containing unspeakable connotation and scene.
He named his work "The leaf of Life", not just about the work restore the performance of life, but also symbolize of life in a hurry. Whether it is Jackson's life, Gaddafi's life, Ang Lee's life. Whether it is military life, or art life. The works restore their own hurry life and heavy feeling.
What surprised us most is that this idea comes from a double T-shirt from Jibei’s girl friend. The front layer of this T-shirt is a translucent gauze. Through the gauze, we can see the back of the T-shirt. Because of this T-shirt, Jibei solve the problem puzzled him a lot by T-shirt’s single layer. The application of this method produced much richer effect and full of space.
"Very early, my mind have such a picture, the fish swim in the water, birds flying in the sky, I want to show the nature through the endless cycle or series." Ji Bei said, I do not want it to be a very stiff thing, hope it is a natural cycle. It is amazing that he could present such a natural imagination in the fixed materials.
This series of creation is not a flash of inspiration, but also from his early experience of operating we chat public platform. When he had just graduated, he made a public platform, combed his own works and used a linear thing to put them in series, he set his own goals, adhere to this work, which becomes this power of every week. He tried transparent acrylic operation, transparent film and plastic paper, etc., We can call it as his creative language. During the creative process, he finally find the carrier for his language, and then thinking reversely, adjust an already existed good work and made it more suitable for this platform.
After graduation, Jibei think he should make their own artistic language to adapt to more carriers and media. He continued explore the multi-layer art through other materials. He began to use the form of GIF animation to enable creation’s spread of new media. From the abstract, philosophical arranged dots to simple characters, animal images, Jibei’s personal WeChat public platform record his endless inspiration and frequently innovative art experiments. That is what he has been loving and pursuing.
Jibei said: life is a cycle but time is linear, which always moving forward. We can never go back.
